What's the Shiny Shop?
The Shiny Shop is a drop-in community crafting hub intended to engage community members and educate on micromobility safety of all kinds. Envisioned by Boston artist and icon Clara Wainwright to improve visibility and safety of cyclists, The Shiny Shop is brought to you by the team at Alex Makes Art as a Harvard placemaking initiative.
Our first iteration popped up this spring in collaboration with Harvard Urban Planning and Development. With all our lessons and new friends, The Shiny Shop concept is ready to adapt and transform for new spaces, communities, cities, and configurations.
The Shiny Shop is popping up in Harvard Square! Open now until October 15, expect cozy drop-in crafts and a mission to make micro-mobility vehicles of all kinds seen, safe, and shiny.

Hey there! The Shiny Shop has drop-in crafting each day during open hours. We encourage registering online for an Early, Late, or Lunch Break session for planning and headcount purposes. All events listed take place in-person at The Shiny Shop at the Harvard Smith Campus Center. Walk-ins are always welcome. Follow The Shiny Shop on Eventbrite

Transit Tips

The Shiny Shop is located inside the Harvard Smith Campus Center and is free and open to the public. You may enter directly through the wheelchair accessible entrance on Dunster Street close to Saloniki's.

You may also enter from the main entrance on Massachusetts Avenue and navigate from inside the building.

By MBTA: We are just off the Harvard Square stop on the Red Line. Bus lines 1, 66, 68, 69, 71, 73, 74, 75, 77, 78, 86, 96, and 109 pass through Harvard Square.

Bicycle / Scooter Parking: Bicycle and scooter parking racks are available outside of the Dunster Street entrance. Please do not bring bicycles or scooters onto the second floor of the Smith Campus Center.

Car Parking: Limited street parking is available in and around Harvard Square.
